Thailand: Flash Floods Kill Several After Heavy Rainfall In Southern Provinces

Flash flooding hit parts of southern Nakhon Si Thammarat province after heavy rain that started Sunday night, December 15 into Monday morning, December 16, leaving many roads impassable. Flooding was also reported in Chumphon, Phatthalung, Ranong, and Surat Thani provinces. 8 people were reportedly killed by the flooding in those five provinces.

Affected by Typhoon Doksuri, extreme rainfall was recorded in north China and the regions along the Yellow and Huaihe rivers, triggering floods and geological disasters and causing heavy casualties in Beijing and Hebei. An average of 261 mm of rainfall inundated Beijing in 60 hours between Saturday night and Tuesday morning. The persistent downpours have affected over 44,600 people in 13 districts of Beijing and prompted the relocation of around 127,000 people
